PRESS RELEASE
KOHEN INSTALLED AS PRESIDENT OF ITLA BRUCE M. KOHEN, of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen, Ltd., in Chicago, was installed as the 54th President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association on Friday, June 8, 2007, at their annual convention. Kohen, 53, obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1976 from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and his Juris Doctor with honors in 1979 from Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago. Mr. Kohen is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, the profession’s preeminent guide. He has held numerous positions in the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, including Chairman of the Legislative Committee for 10 years. He has been a member of ITLA’s Executive Committee since 1994. Mr. Kohen was one of the lead Illinois attorneys who constitutionally challenged the anti-consumer legislation of 1995 resulting in the Illinois Supreme Court finding the legislation unconstitutional in the case of Best v. Taylor Machine Works. As a result, Mr. Kohen and the other members were named finalists for National Trial Lawyer of the Year by Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. Bruce resides with his wife of 26 years, Sheri, and their sons, Rob and Michael in Highland Park, Illinois. Rob will be attending law school this fall, and Michael has just completed his sophomore year at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. "I thank my partners at Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen, Ltd., for allowing me to devote my time to serve all the citizens of this State. All of us recognize it is essential that the rights of people who are seriously injured and the families of those wrongfully killed need protection, inside and outside of the courtroom." "The legal rights of our citizens are being attacked by special interest groups seeking to block access to the courts and to end the right to trial by jury. These special interests know our court system is the only way that working people and consumers can hold guilty parties accountable. These groups unfairly attack and malign our judiciary and our courts. This year will be dedicated to the preservation and strengthening of the civil justice system, and maintaining a fair and independent judiciary.” |
