Happy New Year!
Don’t you love the New Year, with all the anticipation and hope that it brings? I admit that I am biased toward New Year’s. My birthday is New Year’s Eve, and I spent my first 10 years thinking all the hoopla was in my honor. OK, maybe I still secretly think that, but I’m willing to share.
I am nostalgic for the days of paper datebooks and calendars, where you could open the new datebook and see pages and pages of blank dates, knowing that by year-end you would have filled it up with as-yet-unknown adventures. Somehow clicking the outlook icon doesn’t bring the same thrill, but that could be generational. The datebook was sort of the embodiment of the potential of the New Year—it was up to us to fill it.
