Our Mission
The Illinois Trial Lawyers Association is a statewide organization whose members specialize in representing injured consumers and workers. Founded in 1952, the organization has more than 2,000 members. We strive to achieve and maintain high standards of professional ethics, competency and demeanor in the bench and bar by educating and training in the art of advocacy.
Members of our association help victims of wrongdoing achieve justice by securing and protecting the rights of those injured in their persons or civil rights. We help victims face down corporations, insurance companies, health care providers, and other entities or individuals threatening harm against other members of their community.
Trial lawyers are a voice for individuals who are harmed – and others concerned about consumer safety and the integrity of the civil justice system – at the Capitol and around Illinois. As individual plaintiff’s attorneys and as an organization, we’re devoted to giving a voice to those that need it most – individuals injured or even killed because of the wrongdoing of others.
We defend against attacks on the U.S. Constitution’s 7th Amendment and Americans’ right to a trial by jury. It’s often only through our courts that citizens can get equal footing, particularly when taking on insurance companies or other powerful special interests. We promote fair, prompt and efficient administration of justice.
ITLA fights to keep our civil justice system intact, and fights for your rights to hold wrongdoers accountable.
