The legislature is back in full swing after being sworn in for the 104th General Assembly on January 8th, 2025. Since that date, over 6,300 bills have been introduced. I can assure you that no matter what your area of practice, there is a bill or bills that impact you and your clients, most likely in a negative way. 

There have been bills introduced that impact all areas of civil law: workers’ compensation, personal injury, product liability, and BIPA, to name a few, as well as many bills that add new immunities or barriers to a fair civil justice system for our clients. 

In the current national political climate that favors big business and corporate profits, it is as important as ever to stay vigilant and informed. The good news is that our ITLA lobbying team reviews all the bills (and amendments when those come through) to make sure our voices are heard. ITLA will oppose the bills that will hurt our clients and will work tirelessly to pass the ones advantageous to our clients and practices where warranted.
