To My Fellow Members of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association,
 
It is an honor to serve as the 72nd President of ITLA.
 
In my view, ITLA stands as the preeminent trial lawyers’ organization in the country.  Every lawyer in Illinois who represents injury victims owes it to their clients and future clients to be part of an organization that is on the frontline in defending their access to justice and their constitutional right to a jury trial.  Thank you for being part of ITLA.
 
I would like to express my gratitude to our last two presidents: Sara Salger and Kathy Byrne.  Sara served with distinction and a steely resolve over the last year.  Kathy, whose passing was a heartbreaking loss to our community, remained a fierce advocate and generous colleague.  I was privileged to work with both Sara and Kathy over the last several years on ITLA’s Executive Committee.  It was a homecoming working with Kathy, as I was a law clerk with her at Cooney & Conway when we were both in law school.
