The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This principle applies to each group of people in our lives, whether it be family, a law firm, or an organization like ITLA. Indeed, the honor and privilege bestowed upon me as the ITLA president this year quite literally exemplifies why we can accomplish so much more together than we can by ourselves. One person serves as president; but ITLA’s work would not be possible without the extraordinary people who devote so much of themselves to the organization and its mission.
I have had the good fortune of being around ITLA for almost my entire life. Patrick Salvi Sr., my greatest mentor, partner, and best friend, is a past president, having served from 1993-1994. And for the last nearly 30 years, he has continued to selflessly do what has been necessary to ensure a fair tort system in Illinois. I have also had the good fortune to be around, interact with, and learn from the greatest trial lawyers and ITLA leaders of the past decades.
